Section Reports
SECTION 1 (Borders: California, Milwaukee, Armitage)
1) The infamous Spanish Lord property on the 2700 block of W. Francis Pl. continues to have problems, however, residents have been very appreciative of the attention the property has been getting by both the 14th district police and the 1st Ward Alderman's office. The problem tenants are expected to be moving out of the property soon.
2) SGT Reyes continues to work with the property owner on the 2000 block of California that has vicious dogs penned within the property. Meanwhile, the fence restraining the dogs has been better secured.
3) SGT Giambrone reported that there was a large house party hosted by Spanish Cobra gang members, May 5th, on the 2100 block of Bingham. Police were called on two occasions and they were met with some resistance causing several arrests.  
4) SGT Giambrone shared that there was a bicycle safety event held yesterday and today from 3:30 - 5pm from Milwaukee and Armitage up to California. The police cited 8 individuals, half were cyclists disregarding red lights and motorists driving while using their cell phones. There will be more police enforcement events encouraging safety that will include free headlights for cyclists.
action: Residents are urged to continue calling 911 to report the ongoing gang and criminal activity.

SECTION 2 (Borders: Rockwell, Lyndale, Western, Milwaukee)
1) SGT Giambrone mentioned that "cease and desist" orders were filed for 3 parking lots being used along Milwaukee avenue events. These cases are ongoing.
action: Residents are strongly urged to call 911 to report shooting, illegal parking and any illegal patron or employee behavior at the Congress Theater, V-Live and Congress Pizza.

SECTION 3 (Borders: Rockwell, Fullerton, Western, Lyndale)
1) Resident reported drug and gang activity in a building on the 2400 block of Campbell
2) Known delinquents Ivan and Ray Ray have been reportedly seen in this section - Ray Ray has been seen riding a motorized scooter.
3) There was a gang related shooting during a house party on the 2100 block of Campbell, Tuesday, May 14th. Two individuals attending the gang party were shot, but did not suffer life threatening injuries. The offender is known and is being sought after by police. The offender also has a history of criminal activity, including robbery and gun violence.

SECTION 4 (Borders: California, Fullerton, Rockwell, Milwaukee)
1) A 14th District Court Advocate reported that there was a probable cause for arrest during the preliminary hearing for an assumed gang member, who was charged with a felony criminal trespass of a home on the 2600 block of West Belden Ave. on 4/20/2013 at 3:45 AM. The case was transferred to 26th and California to be continued June 5th at 9:00 AM. Meanwhile, the defendant is out on bond. The lawyer for the defendant indicated to the judge that he will use a "criminal necessity defense" if it goes to trial. The lawyer claimed the defendant was being chased by gang members and feared for his safety when he went through the victims front window and up the stair and out a back window to escape becoming a victim himself.

SECTION 5 (Borders: California, Logan Boulevard, Rockwell, Fullerton)
1) At approximately 3:26am this morning, 8 gun shots in rapid succession were reportedly heard by residents. A few minutes later, the 1431 police car was seen in the area, however, there was no further information.
2) A resident reported from the 2400 block of California, at 11pm on Tuesday, May 14th, her son heard 3 gun shots followed by voices saying "call the police, call the police" while taking their dog out in their backyard. Neighbors called the police and were interested in learning more information from the incident. The police had no further information at this time.
3) There were additional concerns reported that there has been gang recruiting at Haas Park.

SECTION 6 (Borders: Rockwell, Logan Boulevard, Western, Fullerton)
1) There were 3 reports of car vandalism reported in this section: 
a) April 29th, 2400 block of Artesian, catalytic converter was stolen
b) May 4th, 2600 block of Altgeld, driver side window was broken and a GPS unit stolen. A suspicious looking tall, Hispanic, male believed to be under the influence was seen in the area by residents near the time time as a potential suspect.
c) May 7th, 2500 block of Campbell, driver side window was broken
SGT Reyes recommended that residents keep valuables including GPS and spare change away and out of sight in cars parked on the street to deter vandals.
2) May 15th, 2400 block of Artesian, police responded to a call involving a domestic disturbance involving a landlord and tenant.
3) There was no further police information regarding a reported dumpster fire on the 2500 block of Altgeld back in April.
