General Announcements
The Chicago City Sticker deadline has been extended through July 30th due to problems with many stickers not adhering properly to windshields. If residents have similar problems with the stickers, contact the city department and they will send a new sticker for free.

Section 1 is having a block party on August 7th on Bingham St. between Francis Pl. and Armitage Ave. from 10am - 10pm.

From June 1st - 30th, according to CLEARMap, Beat 1431 suffered 81 crimes, an increase of 3 from last month (78):

Beat 1431 Court Advocacy Report
The MLD gang member arrested last month in Section 1 at Rockwell and Armitage in possession of a semi-automatic 9mm pistol in the act of returning gunfire with rival Spanish Lords gang members, was sentenced to 18 months of intensive gang probation (including curfew restrictions and is not allowed to associate with any other gang members). The MLD member was re-arrested 3 days later for a curfew violation and is currently back in Cook County jail awaiting resentencing.

Beat 1431 Section Reports
SECTION 1 (Borders: California, Milwaukee, Armitage)
1) Resident questioned whether the individuals selling goods in front of 2074 Stave up to Francis Pl. have a permit. The selling reportedly is taking place every weekend.
2) Resident reported car congestion at Armitage and Stave - Jerry from the 1st ward alderman's office reported that CDOT has been notified to do a traffic study at this location, however, CDOT is 6 months behind.
3) Gang members have been seen loitering (often in their cars) in front of 2108 Bingham, they periodically appear in front of this address between 8pm and 10pm. There are also problems reported at 2106 Bingham where one of the tenants has been frequently getting drunk and fraternizing with the gang members loitering next door at 2108 Bingham.
4) Resident Joe Kopera has been volunteering his time painting over graffiti in the area with paint provided by the alderman's office.
5) A narcotics arrest was made at 2617 Francis Pl, involving 2 kilos of cocaine.
action: Residents are urged to continue calling 911 to report criminal activity.

SECTION 2 (Borders: Rockwell, Lyndale, Western, Milwaukee)
1) There were no reported arrests at V Live over the last month, it was a "quiet month" according to a representative.
2) The notorious Spanish Lord gang member frequently seen outside the Campbell Terrace apartments in a wheelchair continues to be a nuisance in the area. PO Trempe reported that he also frequently loiters at the hot dog stand on Armitage and Western. He was arrested for trying to steal a car radio on the North side but has since returned to the area.
3) Congress Pizza reported that they have not had problems with Spanish Lord gang loitering in several weeks. One of the problem Spanish Lords gang member is currently serving time in jail (possibly for several years).
action: Club 2047 criminal activity, Congress Theater & Tini Martini nuisances and Congress Pizza gang activity remain priorities in this section.

SECTION 3 (Borders: Rockwell, Fullerton, Western, Lyndale)
1) PO Trempe reported that officers monitored the traffic at Campbell and Medill and found that the cars have been following normal traffic flow (in response to last month's beat report that cars were frequently travelling the wrong way).
2) Resident reported that a few residents within the Lyndale Commons apartment complex at Lyndale & Rockwell have been creating problems in the neighborhood. The residents were encouraged to report the issue to the management company who have been very responsive with these matters in the past.
action: Residents are strongly urged to call 911 to report gang activity and 311 for graffiti.

SECTION 4 (Borders: California, Fullerton, Rockwell, Milwaukee)
1) Goethe Elementary School has been regularly removing the basketball hoops in the afternoon in response to not taking them down for several days last month, attracting basketball players at all hours of day and night as well as gang activity.
2) Resident reported that the lawn/weed bed on the vacant lots on Belden, Talman and Medill have not been cared for and need to be mowed. Jerry from the 1st ward office said he will contact the property managers to take care of this problem.
action: Residents are strongly urged to call 911 to report gang activity and 311 for graffiti.

SECTION 5 (Borders: California, Logan Boulevard, Rockwell, Fullerton)
1) There were 4 - 5 graffiti arrests in this area. The vandal, Eddie Garcia - tag name of "Soar", who uses acid on windows (permanently damaging them) was one of these arrests.
action: Residents are strongly urged to call 911 if they hear or see any suspicious activity.

SECTION 6 (Borders: Rockwell, Logan Boulevard, Western, Fullerton)
1) Notorious homeless person Darrel Chambers (past drug arrests) remains in this area and has been seen soliciting money on Western.
action: Residents are strongly urged to call 911 to report gang activity and 311 for graffiti
