The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, March 4th at 7:00pm at Goethe School, 2236 N. Rockwell. Note: The April 1st meeting will be held at the 14th District, 2150 N. California instead of Chase School.

Safe Passage
SGT Belicki announced the Safe Passage Program partially sponsored by the Chicago Police Department. The Safe Passage Program will also be sponsored by parents and business and will provide a safe place for children to go. It is similar to the Safe Haven Program discussed at last month's Beat meeting.
Alejandro Valdez Anti Gun Law for Gang Members
SGT Belicki announced a new anti gun law in honor of fallen PO Alejandro Valdez who was killed by gang gunfire. The law essentially states that it is unlawful for a gang member to be in possession of a firearm. If a gang member is found guilty and convicted of being in possession of a firearm, s/he will serve a mandatory prison sentence of 3 - 10 years as a class 2 felony.

From January 1st - 31st, according to CLEARMap, Beat 1431 suffered 70 crimes, an increase of 13 from last month (57):

Beat 1431 Section Reports
SECTION 1 (Borders: California, Milwaukee, Armitage)
1) Graffiti, mostly "artists" but some gang graffiti, was reported between Milwaukee and Bingham under the El tracks. A city service request was done by the police and it was also reported to the alderman's office and both are working on removal.
2) An aggravated assault was reported on Jan 24 shortly after midnight. A person was driving on Milwaukee when another car drove up next to him and the driver shouted “Vice Lord Killer” and displayed a gun. No arrest was made.
3) A search warrant issued on the 2100 block of Point on Jan 30 turned up drugs and money.
action: Residents are urged to continue calling 911 to report criminal activity.
SECTION 2 (Borders: Rockwell, Lyndale, Western, Milwaukee)
1) Representative from both Congress Pizza and V Live reported that it had been quiet at their businesses.
2) It was report by a neighbor that an older man in a wheel chair is still hanging out with gang members near McLean and Campbell. This is the third month that this has been reported. The man in the wheelchair may live in the Campbell Terrace and has been seen taking underage girls into that building.
action: Club 2047 criminal activity, Congress Theater nuisances and Congress Pizza gang activity remain priorities in this section.
SECTION 3 (Borders: Rockwell, Fullerton, Western, Lyndale)
1) A robbery was reported at Dunkin Donuts on Fullerton and Rockwell on Jan 26th. At 9:15 pm, a man ordered two Bavarian cream donuts, then showed a gun and demanded money from the cash register. No one injured and no arrest was made.

SECTION 4 (Borders: California, Fullerton, Rockwell, Milwaukee)
1) A criminal sexual assault was reported on the 2200 block of Milwaukee on Jan 24th, after 1 am. A woman who had been drinking was walking home. When offered a ride, she got into a car with someone she did not know in the 25th District. The driver told her he had a gun. She fought off the assailant and managed to get out of car on the 2200 block of Milwaukee. No arrest was made.

SECTION 5 (Borders: California, Logan Boulevard, Rockwell, Fullerton)
1) Graffiti was reported along Fullerton.
action: Residents are strongly urged to call 911 if they hear or see any suspicious activity.
SECTION 6 (Borders: Rockwell, Logan Boulevard, Western, Fullerton)
1) A burglary was reported in the 2400 block of Artesian. The front door to a two flat was left open after an empty apartment was being shown and the other apartment was robbed.
2) Two arrests were made for false personation/name use on the 2500 block of Western on Jan 13. Two people were holding donation signs and asking for money for the Sister Harris House for Battered Women and Children, a non-existent organization.
